Stellarton has a shop for all things spiritual and holistic. Although it’s been open since July, The Art of Divination will hold its official grand opening on Nov. 7.
According to owner Carrie Stewart, The Art of Divination Gift Store is “a small eclectic store that packs a punch,” with an assortment of accoutrements for an assortment of spiritual practices, from scented oils and meditation aids, to wind chimes and skin care products. The store is a centre for everything from wellness to fortune telling.
“It’s in the category of a new age store – we have wellness products, we have books on divination methods, tarot cards, crystal balls, and rune stones – as well as products focused on meditation and yoga,” said Stewart.
True to its name, The Art of Divination aspires to be the main place to get Tarot card readings, palm readings and other forms of spiritual prognostication for residents in the Stellarton and Pictou County area.
In addition to the subject of the spiritual, Steward said The Art of Divination has a fantastical side to it as well – it deals in “fairies and dragons,” with many fantasy-themed goods available.
The store sources many of its goods – such as its handmade soaps and skin-care products and artwork – locally, from providers in the Pictou County area.
Stewart said The Art of Divination also is a hub for special events, with community events held twice a month. These include the upcoming Dia de lose Muertos-themed event on Nov. 3, and events like the planned Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) workshop on Nov. 17 at the Aberdeen Sobeys Community Room.
The Art of Divination grand opening will feature a number of draws for prizes, as well as an open house for anyone curious to see what the store is all about. In addition to draws and prizes, there will be a local artist painting the northern lights – a painting that will be later silently auctioned to guests, with proceeds going toward the Pictou County Roots for Youth program.
The grand opening will be a daylong event, during business hours (11 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and will continue in the evening from 6 to 8 p.m.
