Nearly 120 students in grades 8, 9, 10 and 11 from the Chignecto-Central, Strait and Annapolis Valley regional school boards will be attending Skilled Futures in Trades & Tech, presented by Skills Canada – Nova Scotia (SCNS) on Tuesday at the NSCC Pictou Campus in Stellarton.

Skilled Futures in Trades & Tech is a one-day event that offers students the opportunity to explore skilled trade and technology career options by participating in hands-on workshops, ranging from electronic engineering to plumbing.

“Students from across Nova Scotia are making decisions about their futures. Our Skilled Futures series is an interactive tool that allows students to immerse themselves in a variety of career options in skilled trades and technologies, in an effort to help students make an informed decision. The most exciting part of the day is when they discover a career choice that they may not have considered before,” said Robin Lorway, executive director of SCNS.

Skilled Futures in Trades & Tech is one in a series of one-day career exploration events taking place from November to May at locations across the province. This event is made possible by the support of the Nova Scotia Community College, Nova Scotia Apprenticeship Agency, and Northern Pulp Nova Scotia Corporation.

Skills Canada – Nova Scotia is a not-for-profit organization that provides opportunities for Nova Scotian youth to explore skilled trades and technologies, discover their passions, and strive for excellence.
