Summer Street Scramble surpasses $3 million mark

A celebration year got even more exciting for Summer Street Industries.

The non-profit which provides services to clients with intellectual disabilities is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

Friday, at the 24th annual Summer Street Scramble organizers announced something additional to celebrate – the fundraiser has surpassed the $3 million mark.

The total raised to date at the golf tournament is now $3,135,920.

Summer Street Executive Director Bob Bennett said he was overwhelmed by the support they received for this year’s tournament which brought in $251,277.

“You’ve got to love Pictou County,” he said.

Ray Wagg, co-chair for the fundraiser said he had every confidence heading into this event that they could reach the milestone and was thrilled to see it come to reality.

The top fundraising this team was CIBC Wood Gundy which raised a total of $50,950. Not far behind was Team “It’s 5 o’clock Somewhere” which raised $50,330.
