The Spirit Competition is considered one of the most influential spirits competitions in the world with over 1,850 entries from across the globe all judged by 39 industry leading spirits-experts.

Nova Scotia Spirit Co. was awarded gold in the vodka category for “Blue Lobster Vodka”. The company also won silver in the gin category for “Willing to Learn Gin.”

“Fisherman’s Helper White Rum”  won silver in the white rum category.

“We were very pleased with the awards, it certainly re-affirms the quality of spirits we’re putting out there, especially being recognized within our first full year of production,” Evan MacEachern, owner of the company said. “I think people who have tried the product already get that we offer a premium quality product at an affordable price point. Hopefully the awards will influence people who haven’t tried it yet to pick up a bottle to see what they’ve been missing.”

MacEachern said this is the first competition he’s entered so didn’t know what to expect. He said judges who took tasting notes and ranked the spirits over a four day period.

Nova Scotia Spirit Co. came to market in October 2015 as the first local spirits producer in the province with products in the sub $30 category (750ml). Their products can be found in the majority of NSLC stores, Bishop’s Cellar, Rockhead Wine & Beer, Cristall Wine, and  Harvest Wine & Spirits.

MacEachern said they’ve seen great growth over the last year and expect these accolades will help spread word of their product even more.

“Every week and every month there’s more and more customers converting to our product.”
