PICTOU – The Town of Trenton’s recreation director has been charged with voyeurism.

Martin Gregory Bates, 64, was charged with trespassing and voyeurism in relation to an alleged incident on May 12, 2018 in Stellarton. Court documents state the charges involve prowling at night near a dwelling house as well as observing someone who had a reasonable expectation of privacy.

The charges were laid by Stellarton Police Service and Bates is scheduled to be in Pictou Provincial court on July 23 for his first appearance.

Bates worked for the Town of Trenton as its recreation director and parks manager. Trenton CAO Brian White confirmed Bates is currently on a leave of absence from his job.
