Sherrie Mckinnon

McKINNON, Sherrie B. Sylvester McKINNON, Sherrie Barbara -53, of Sylvester, Pictou County, passed away May 15, 2018 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family. Born in New Glasgow, she was the daughter of Kenneth & Lillian (Earle) Trefry, of Smithfield. Sherrie was employed with the school board for 28 years working in the Head Office and several schools as Administrative Assistant, with her last position as Administrative Assistant at New Glasgow Academy since its opening. She adored the students and staff she worked with. Sherrie had a great sense humour and was a positive person, and remained that way throughout her illness, fighting with everything she had, with courage and dignity. She cared deeply for her family, and always put their needs first. She also enjoyed travelling with her husband Jim exploring new places. She enjoyed being in the company of her pup Tex, it was rare to see them apart the last few months. Sherrie is survived by her husband, Jim; brother, Ken (Stella) Trefry, Trenton; nephew, Michael, Trenton; brothers-in-law, Ross (Lindsay), Ottawa and Greg (Jan), Shad Bay; nephews, Robert, Scott, David and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was predeceased by her grandmother, Margaret Earle. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held from 2-4 PM Saturday in the McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou, with a Memorial to follow at 4:00 PM.
