Frank H. MacDonald elementary students raise $900

Grade 2 students at Frank H MacDonald Elementary School raised $837 in change to send to the Philippines. The school topped it off to $900 and will be giving the money to the Red Cross to distribute.

Between Nov. 26 and Dec. 5th, students collected and counted coins.

Grade 2 teacher Kim Bain, said their initial goal was to get $300, so to have the students bring in close to three times that amount was terrific.

For the cheque presentation day the school invited Grade 6 student Lorenzo Balignasay, whose grandparents still live in the Philippines, to talk to them about the country.

Thankfully his family lives north of where the typhoon hit and wasn't affected directly.
