Dave Gunning has captured two more awards at the 2014 East Coast Music Awards in Charlottetown this year. The awards come right after his recent win, with George Canyon, for the singer/songwriter category in the Great American Song Contest.
The Lyons Brook singer songwriter has spent the year touring and working on new projects, such as producing and writing for the latest album of New Glasgow’s Jim Dorie. All the hard work was made worthwhile though, with four ECMA nominations this year.
Gunning took home the awards for the Solo Record of the Year, and Song Writer of the Year.
Gunning will only have a few days to celebrate his wins though; the artist is headed off to Elliott Lake Ontario, for the first in a string of shows beginning on the 11.
Although he was also nominated for Fans Choice Entertainer of the Year, and Video of the Year for his video These Hands, the awards went to The Barra MacNeils for entertainer and The Town Heroes for video.
Gunning was not the only Pictou County native to be nominated this year, with three more artists and one venue up for awards.
George Canyon as well as E.B. Anderson and the Resolutes, were nominated this year, with the awards going to other artists in the running.
Gordie MacKeeman & His Rhythm Boys also took home the award for Roots/Traditional recording of the year for Pickin N Clickin.
Glasgow Square Theatre was also nominated for Venue of the Year with the award ending up with Harmony House Theatre in P.E.I.
