Mariposa medals in Dartmouth at Rob McCall

Mariposa Skating Centre was successful in bringing home multiple medals from the recent Rob McCall Memorial Competition.

Not only were they medal winners but four skaters earned a berth on the Skate Atlantica Team, where they will represent Nova Scotia and the Mariposa Club. 

Taking these spots were: Brandon Bent, gold in pre-novice men; Hana Marmura, silver in novice; Stacey Wallace, bronze in pre-novice; and Jillian Matlock, taking bronze in pre-novice.

The pre-juvenile and juvenile skaters will hope to earn their spot at this weekend’s Star Skate provincials in Kentville.

At the Rob McCall Competition, Georgia Murray took silver and Sarah Higdon, bronze in pre-juvenile; Chloe Hebb took silver in Star 3 with silver also going to Brooke Pennington, Mallory Matlock and Maya Goldchtaub in Star 2. Bronze awards were earned by Jia Li Rennie in Star 2 and Halle Goyette in Star 1.

All of the club’s provincial winners and medalists, along with the many costumed Canskaters, are busy preparing for their annual ice show “Olympics on Ice Come to Pictou County.”

The show is Wednesday, March 5, at 6 p.m. at the Wellness Centre. Admission is $3.
