Pictou County Athletics finishes second overall in Moncton

MONCTON- The Pictou County Athletics track team sent 23 athletes to Moncton this weekend to participate in the Atlantic Indoor Championships.

PCA finished as the top Nova Scotia team and second overall out of a total of 16 clubs that were represented from around the Atlantic Region.

Olivia Pretty was dominate in the 14-15 year old category finishing first in the 60, 200m and 300m events, while in the field events Tatum McLean was first in both the shot put and weight throw.

Also in the 14-15 category, Genevieve Lemieux finished second in the 1,200m and fifth in 800m events.

For the 12-13 year old events Hannah Fraser finished first in the 60m hurdles and 800m, while Ethan MacDonald was first in the boys 800m and 1,200m races.

Pictou County Athletics was best represented in the 16-17 year old events with eight participants.

Jordan Landry was first in the 60m hurdles and fourth in the 400m race; Alyssa MacNeil was second in the 60m and 200m events; Erin Washburn was third in the 800m and fifth in the 400m; Lauren Quann finished first in high jump; Kaelan Schmidt was first in high jump, triple jump and long jump events; Peter Corbin was second in the 800m and third in the 1,500m; Scott Langille was fifth in the 1,500m; and Dylan Hiltz was first in the 3,000m and fourth in the 1,500m.

Three participants represented in the 18-19 year old category with Jessica Zentner winning the 3,000m event and finishing third in the 1,500m. Gabrille Bailey was fourth in the triple jump, while Brady Walsh was second in the 400m, third in the 200m and fourth in the 60m events.

Tony Corbin and David MacLennan competed in the 35+ events, with MacLennan winning the 800m and 1,500 races, while Corbin was first in the 60m and second in the 1,500m.
