The Westville Atom B Miners punched their ticket to the Nova Scotia Atom B provincial Championship Play-downs being held in Baddeck on March. 22-23 by virtue if their dramatic 7-6 come back victory over the Port Hood Raiders last week at the Westville Miners Sports Center.

Trailing 3-1 late in the second period and down 6-4 with less than six minutes left, the Miners struck for three unanswered goals, the winner by Kale Behie with 28 seconds left to secure the Miners trip to provincials for a second consecutive season.

Only days away from fielding a team this season, Billy Kontuk and Gus Fahey stepped-up to the plate – Kontuk to coach the team and Fahey to help with on-ice practices. Troy Bonvie, Todd Hill, Johnny Bourque, Kevin Avery, Ross MacIntosh and Debbie Clark all chipped in providing bench and on-ice support to ensure that the miners would ice a team in B competition this season.
