Atom minor Nova North Storm open spring season with three wins

NEW GLASGOW – The atom minor Nova North Storm opened their season with three wins and a loss over the weekend in Atlantic Hockey Group N.S. AAA Series action at the Pictou County Wellness Centre.

On Saturday, the Storm first faced the Western Hurricanes (Halifax, Chebucto and TASA). The Storm took an early lead with two goals from Lucas Canning, but the Hurricanes came back to defeat the Storm 3-2.

In their second game on Saturday the Storm faced the Acadia Axemen. Canning recorded three goals in their 3-0 win over the Axeman. Thomas Gariepy recorded the shutout.

The Storm came out strong on Sunday to down the Acadia Axemen 6-1. Goal scorers were: Canning (3), Landon Sim, Liam Berthiaume and Joseph Mason. 

Their final game of the weekend was their second meeting with the Hurricanes. The Hurricanes were no match for the Storm with Canning netting four goals and Sim and Kiefer Avery adding one apiece. Michael Law was between the pipes for the Storm’s 6-1 win.

Atom minor Nova North Storm face the Central Lightning (Sackville, Bedford, East Hants) next Saturday, April 19 at the Halifax Forum.
