Scotians win league title, on to the DoJo
MOUNT WILLIAM – Next stop for the Junior Scotians: Fredericton, N.B.
NEW GLASGOW – Tom Steele, chairperson of the Play the Pros Society, announced that “Hockey Day in Pictou County" will return in 2014.
The Wellness Centre will host the event on Friday, July 18 starting at 6 p.m.
This year’s format has changed to accommodate the pros playing two games that evening with novice and atom aged players and instead of a Pros and Joes game will see the pros take part in a skills demo between the first and second game.
There will be no charge to attend and watch these on-ice events, but donations will be accepted at the door. Colin White, Jon Sim, Derek Walser, Joey MacDonald and Dave McIntyre will be joined by other NHL/AHL pros to be announced over the next month.
Children wishing to participate in the games can get an application by accessing www.pcmha.ca or from the YMCA desk. It will cost $100 per child. Completed applications can be dropped back at the YMCA and will be time stamped as the first 20 atom and novice players registered will be eligible to play.
The popular silent auction will be back, plus an after-game comedy-auction event upstairs in the Wellness Centre for those 19 years of age and over. The cost for this event will be $25.00 per person with tickets available at the YMCA desk.
Check out Facebook "Play the Pros" group for additional information and photos/videos from past events.
