History was made last weekend – the Kickin’ Vixens won their first bout since the incorporation of the team.
Up against the Valley Avengers the Kickin’ Vixens won the lopsided bout 378-173.
This came a month after their first official bout in Cape Breton, which the team lost. It was only a matter of time before their first win after a long winter of working on their skills and focusing on strategy with their coach ‘Hurry.’
Unfortunately he wasn’t there for their first win in Bridgetown, but ‘Rotten Rob’ from the N.B. Lumbersmacks made the trip to the Valley to assist the team on the bench.
The most valuable blockers for Kickin’ Vixens were ‘Eye Sock Ya’ (Marla Cameron) and ‘VooDoo McQ’ (Brenda McHugh Jones), while the most valuable jammer was ‘Rock N Roll Her’ (Charlene Pentz).
Their next bout is a rematch with the Valley Avengers on Aug. 9 in Dartmouth, while their first home bout is Aug. 16 against Cape Breton’s Tar City Rollers at the Trenton Rink. The start time is 3 p.m. Entry costs $5 for adults, while kids are free.
The team said they are always looking for new members. For those looking for more information or to get involved they can email email@example.com.
VANCOUVER — Stewart Kerr had no idea what do with himself. A goalkeeper with Scottish giant Celtic for a decade, he had just been forced to retire at age 26 because of a crippling back injury that resulted in two discs being surgically removed.
