The Bantam team defeated Metro West Force Black 1-0 at the Pictou County Wellness Centre to take the cup. Hayley Burke scored the only goal, unassisted, while player of the game Kelly Harnett stopped 16 shots for the shutout in goal.
The Selects put the puck in the empty Metro West net just as the final buzzer sounded, but the goal didn’t count.

Over three days at the Wellness Centre, the Pictou County Female Hockey Association hosted 19 A-level teams in Bantam, Atom and Midget divisions, along with Novice, at the Subway Cup. There was no Pee Wee division due to lack of teams.
No winner is selected in the Novice division, with all players receiving participation medals, and the winner of the Atom division hasn’t been determined yet, as the two teams playing in the final game opted to arrange a game for another time due to the stormy weather conditions on Sunday. The Antigonish Bulldogs and Cape Breton West teams will meet at a later date to decide a winner.
The Atom A Subway Selects had a win and two losses, with Rogan MacDonald scoring the only goal in the team’s 1-0 win over the Capital District Cyclones. Assists were recorded by Brooke Greene and Carman Langille. The team lost 8-0 to Cape Breton West, and 3-1 to Western Riptide East, with a goal by Chloe Ferguson, assisted by Sarah Chapman.
The Metro West Force Orange team won the Midget A division with a 4-0 win over the Glace Bay Miners.
Like the Atom girls, the Pictou County Midget A team had one win and two losses in the tournament. Carly Smith, Ellen Coffin, Brody Paul and affiliate player Kaleigh Foley scored in a 4-0 win over Metro West Force Red.
Metro West Force Orange defeated the Selects 2-1, with Keirsten MacLennan scoring, assisted by Foley and Briar Miller. In a 5-2 loss to Glace Bay Miners, Thea Waller netted both goals unassisted.
