Nova Scotia’s female softball team finished their Canada Games round robin with a 2-7 record.

Their final game on Friday – a 4-0 win over P.E.I – saw the three Pictou County players on the team all making contributions. Pitcher Kelyn Palmer earned the win by firing a one-hit shutout, while Courtney Smith and Hilary Taylor each went one-for-three at the plate, Taylor’s hit being a two-run double.

After dropping their first six games in Winnipeg, Team Nova Scotia beat Newfoundland and Labrador 8-3 on Thursday afternoon – with Palmer getting the win in that game before losing to Quebec later Thursday.

Pictou County’s Tim Shea will race in Saturday’s criterium road cycling race.
