The Subway Stingers hosted the Brian Jarvis Memorial Fastball Tournament at the Dorrington Softball Complex this past weekend, showcasing the top U-12, U-14 and U-16 female fastpitch teams from N.S. and defending U-12 champions KV from New Brunswick.

Round robin play began on Friday night and concluded Sunday morning.

The championship round featured the Subway Stingers against the Cole Harbour Comets Red team in the U-12 final. The Stingers advanced to the final with an extra-inning victory in the semifinal against the defending champs from N.B. Despite the semifinal heroics the Stingers ran out of gas in the hot summer sun and settled for the silver, with Cole Harbour winning gold.

The U-14 final featured long-time rivals the Subway Stingers and the Cole Harbour Comets. The game was a classic pitching duel with excellent defense, which the Stingers won 2-0.

The final game of the weekend featured the Subway Stingers and Eastern Shore Golddiggers playing for the U-16 Championship. The Stingers took the lead early and held on for the victory.
