Crushers fall in Yarmouth

YARMOUTH - The Junior A Crushers came up a goal short on Friday in Yarmouth in a 4-3 loss to the Mariners.

The Mariners trailed 2-1 in the second period but scored three unanswered; former Crusher Luc Poirier, Brent Boarders and Matt Smith – ho had also scored in the first-period – had the goals that put Yarmouth ahead for good.

The Crushers got a last-second goal from rookie winger Kevin Mason in the third period.

Dylan Riley and Nick Jessome also scored for the Crushers and Michael Dill set up two goals.

The Crushers play host to the Truro Bearcats this coming Thursday in a key South Division matchup for Pictou County, as they look to stay close to the playoff picture in the South Division standings.

The game will be Truro’s first visit to the Pictou County Wellness Centre this season.
