YARMOUTH – The Junior A Crushers rallied late to beat the Yarmouth Mariners 4-3 on Friday night, breaking a three-game losing streak and getting them closer to a playoff spot.

The Maritime Hockey League club trailed 3-2 late in the game before captain Michael Dill knotted the score with less than five minutes to go, which set the stage for Nick Jessome to get the game winner at 18:02.

Jaden Mason had two goals for Pictou County, while Evan MacLennan and Jake Martin each had two-assists games, and the Crushers got 25 saves from Matt Normore in net to edge the Mariners, who are in first place in the South Division.

Picotu County is tied with the Valley Wildcats for fifth spot, with each team having 28 points, although Pictou County has played two fewer games than Valley.

Both those teams are just one point back of the Truro Bearcats, who have lost nine of their past 10.
