The Junior A Crushers will be in New Brunswick this weekend hoping to get above the .500 mark.
The MHL club saw their won-loss record fall to 6-6-1 after a 4-3 loss to the South Shore Lumberjacks on Thursday.
Dylan Riley scored twice for the Crushers, including one that pulled them to within a goal with 3:43 remaining in the third period, before the Lumberjacks held on for their eighth straight win.
Riley also set up Jacob Hickey’s sixth goal of the season, as the Crushers used two first-period power play tallies to erase a 2-0 South Shore lead.
Logan O’Neil had a pair for the ’Jacks, Cody Grant and Kyle Sexton also scored.
Notes:
• Second-year forward Nick Fewer informed the Crushers this week that he’s leaving the team to focus on school. Fewer had four goals in 11 games this season.
• Alexander Saunders swapped his South Shore jersey for the red-black-blue Crushers colours this week, after the 19-year-old defenceman was acquired in a trade. He played his first game with Pictou County against his old team.
• Pictou County were to play against the Campbellton Tigers on Friday, then are at the Miramichi Timberwolves Saturday night.
