Crushers lose 5-3, need a Saturday win to keep season alive
ANTIGONISH – The Amherst Ramblers will head home with a chance to put the Pictou County Crushers out of the Maritime Hockey League playoffs.
Lead Susan Creelman throws in the final game of the Sobeys Classic, held at the Bluenose Curling Club on Sunday. Creelman is part of Colleen Pinkney’s team, who were topped by Suzanne Birt in the playoffs.
P.E.I.’s Suzanne Birt went undefeated in the Sobeys Classic curling bonspiel over the weekend, topping Truro’s Colleen Pinkney in the final on Sunday 8-5.
Birt was 5-0 in round robin play, and 2-0 in the playoffs.
Pinkney was 3-2 and 1-1 in the standings.
In the men’s game, Jamie Murphy of the Lakeshore Curling Club in Lower Sackville beat Bridgewater’s Shawn Adams 5-4.
Murphy won four and lost one in round robin action, while Adams was 4-1 in regular play and 2-1 in the finals.
