MOUNT WILLIAM – Girls who want to try hockey or female hockey for the first time are invited to a free Esso Fun Day taking place at the Pictou County Wellness Centre.
Fundy Highland Female Hockey will host the event on Sept. 22 from noon to 2 p.m. It will consist of a one-hour on-ice session with a focus on basic skills and hockey concepts, and a one-hour off-ice session with a focus on team building and an introduction to basic hockey rules and terminology.
Esso Fun Days is aimed at familiarizing beginners with female hockey and its basic skills at no cost to the first-time participant. The focus of the program is to introduce hockey in a fun, positive and non-threatening environment.
Participants will need to have full gear (helmet, skates, shin pads, chest protector, elbow pads, gloves, neck guard, pants, socks and stick). Jerseys will be supplied by Hockey Canada.
The program is designed for girls who are minor hockey age (four and up).
