WESTVILLE ROAD – Defenceman Marc Gagnon, who played one season with the Pictou County Weeks Crushers, has committed to play university hockey next season.

The Weeks Hockey Organization announced Friday that Gagnon will play with the Laurentian Voyageurs of the OAU conference.

Laurentian is located in Sudbury, Ont.

“Marc was a bit of an unknown for us heading into the season, but he quickly became a player that was counted on in every situation for us,” Crushers general manager Chad McDavid said in a release.

“He came to Pictou County with a goal of playing CIS hockey next season and we’re very happy that we could play a part in him achieving it.”

Gagnon, who was arguably the Crushers best player the first seven weeks of the season, suffered a shoulder injury in October that kept him out of action until late December.

His injury sent the Crushers into a prolonged tailspin they ultimately would not recover from.
