NEW GLASGOW – The NNEC Gryphons girls basketball squad will play for a regional championship on Thursday.
The Gryphons will face the Dr. J.H. Gillis Royals at the NNEC gymnasium, in a game that starts at 5:30 p.m.
The Royal s defeated the CEC Cougars on Wednesday in Antigonish. The Gryphons will be hosting the high school girls provincials March 1-3, so will compete at provincials no matter how Thursday’s game plays out.
“We’re in regardless, but we’d like to get in as regional champs and not as hosts,” said NNEC coach Andy MacKay.
“Plus, it would affect our seeding (at provincials).”
