NEW GLASGOW – The Pictou County Weeks Crushers have dealt forward Madison Dunn to the Brooks Bandits (AJHL) for forward Spenser Cobbold.
Dunn was acquired by the Crushers from the Chilliwack Chiefs on July 9. However, the Chiefs originally obtained the 19 year old’s rights earlier in the offseason, meaning Dunn will return to the team he has spent the previous two seasons with, posting 57 points in 97 regular season games as well as eight points in 20 postseason games. Dunn was a member of the Bandits squad that captured the RBC Cup in Summerside in 2013.
Cobbold has spent the past three seasons in major junior. Entering his 20 year old season this fall, the Stittsville, Ont. native was a member of the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors/Steelheads organization from 2011 until early in the 2013-14 campaign.
In 145 combined regular season and playoff games in the OHL, Cobbold posted 45 points and 171 penalty minutes. He then made his way to the QMJHL where he spent 50 games with the Charlottetown Islanders last year. During that time, Cobbold scored 14 goals and added 16 assists to go with 73 minutes in penalties.
Before playing in the OHL, Cobbold spent a season in the CCHL with the Kanata Stallions.
