On Friday, the Subways travelled to Bedford where they took on the Ducks.

Sophia Wornell got the Selects out to a 1-0 lead in the first period, only to have the Ducks score twice to take a 2-1 lead into the third.

Hanna Porter tied it up early in the third period and gave the Selects some life.

The girls got into penalty trouble late in the third, however, and gave up a power play goal with just over a minute to go in a 3-2 loss.

Jenna Landry took the loss in goal.

On Saturday, the Subways hosted the Cole Harbour Wings at the Hector Arena - a game that saw the return of Camryn Halliday who has been out the past eight weeks with a severe lower body injury.

The Selects spotted a one-goal lead in the first before responding themselves a few minutes later.

Eva Wornell tied it after tipping a Heath Miller point shot to even it at one.

The Selects got the winner late in the third period.

Halliday won the faceoff deep in the Wings zone and got the puck to Sarah Macneil, who fed Sophia Wornell at the point.

Wornell fired a hard pass across to Miller, who ripped a slapper through a screen that found the back of the net for the 2-1 win. Victoria Dunn got the win in goal.

The Selects are in late stage preparations for their trip to the provincial championships in Glace Bay this weekend.

They head to the Cape on Friday where they will take on the host, Glace Bay Miners, in Game 1 and then face a strong squad from the Valley in Game 2 Friday evening.

The winner of the championships will head to St. John's, N.L. Easter weekend for the Atlantic Championships.
