Crushers upend Caps

First pre-season game for both teams

SUMMERSIDE – The Summerside D. Alex MacDonald Ford Western Capitals could not make it all the way back on Friday night.
The Capitals fell behind the Pictou County Crushers 4-0 and battled back to close the deficit to 4-3, before the visitors added two late goals to post a 6-3 victory at Credit Union Place’s Ice Pad. It was the opening game of the MHL (Maritime Junior Hockey League) pre-season for both teams.

Scott Cameron had two goals and an assist to lead the Crushers, who received single goals from Abram-Village native Evan Gallant, Dustin Sudds, Evan MacLennan and Brayden Ryan. Chad Wilson added two assists.

Marc Richard scored twice to lead the Caps’ offence. Seth Morris also scored while Hunter Bradley, Bennett MacArthur and Riley MacDougall added single assists.
The Crushers built period leads of 2-0 and 4-1.
Seth Crowe and Matthew Normore split the goaltending duties for the Crushers. Rylan Holder and Dawson Rodin were the Capitals goaltenders.
The Caps will pay a return visit to the Crushers on Saturday. Game time in New Glasgow, N.S., is 4:30 p.m.
