AMHERST – Alex Bonaparte scored two goals in his final game of junior hockey as the Pictou County Crushers toppled the Amherst Ramblers 7-2 on Saturday.

At Amherst Stadium, Jon Vandermolen, Dylan Riley, Giancarlo Fiori, Michael Fradette and Mason Hawley also had goals in the win. It was Hawley’s first goal in junior, as he and another Weeks Major Midgets grad – goaltender Andrew MacLeod – contributed to the win.

MacLeod made 33 saves in his Crushers’ regular season debut and also picked up an assist on Riley’s goal.

Layton Parsons and Jake Barter scored for Amherst.

Evan MacLennan and Michael Dill each set up two goals for Pictou County. Dill, a former rookie of the year and last season’s Maritime Hockey League scoring champion, finished his junior career with 203 points (81G, 122A), the best in team history.

The Ramblers will play the South Shore Lumberjacks in the first round of the playoffs.
