The Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League champions, playing their second game of the day and with a chance to move into Saturday’s semifinals, lost a 2-1 game to the host Fredericton Capitals.
Jacob Pentz had the only goal of the game for Pictou County. Pentz finished the tournament with four goals and three assists in four games, while defenceman Ryan Dunfield was named a tournament all-star.
The Scotians finished fourth in their division in the NSJHL, but won three straight playoff series and their first-ever league title – earning a trip to the Don Johnson Memorial, the Atlantic Junior B hockey championships.
