MEMBERTOU, N.S. – The Pictou County Junior Scotians lost 3-2 in overtime on Saturday against the Glace Bay Miners.
In a Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League game played in Membertou, Jacob Keegan scored three minutes into OT with the Miners on the power play to put his team seven points ahead of the Scotians in the standings, as the Scotians look to overtake Glace Bay and gain first place in their division.
Pictou County had led 2-1 with about seven minutes left in the game before Kelly Yates tied it for the Miners.
Morgan Timmons scored twice for the Scotians and now has five goals in three games since being traded to Pictou County from the Strait Pirates.
Chad O’Neill had the other goal for Glace Bay.
The Scotians had a Sunday night game at home against the Antigonish Bulldogs, at Trenton rink. They will travel to Glace Bay this coming Wednesday for a makeup game, a likely must-win if they want to win the regular season division title.
