The Pictou County Weeks Major Midgets picked up three of a possible four points in two games against the South Shore Mustangs over the weekend.

On Sunday afternoon at the Pictou County Wellness Centre, Ben Gobbon made 16 saves in the Pictou County crease and Hunter Martin scored late in the five-minute overtime as Weeks managed to eke out a 1-0 win over South Shore.

Carson Lanceleve and Rowan Sears got credit for the assists on the game-winning goal play.

On Saturday night at home, the Major Midgets lost 4-3 in overtime when Zen Weist scored on a penalty shot for the Mustangs in the extra session.

Despite the loss, Weeks were able to pick up a point in Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League standings.

Marc Aucoin had two goals for Pictou County and Sears had a goal and an assist.

The Major Midgets, who improved their league record to 8-10-3 on the season, will be on the road for two games next weekend.
