NEW GLASGOW – Plans are underway for the 18th Annual MacDonald Cup Fore Palliative Care fundraiser.

The tournament is held in honour of Walter MacDonald, who lost his battle with cancer in the fall of 2000.

Canadian comedian/musician Jimmy Flynn will return to do a show on July 14 at Summer Street Industries in New Glasgow.

Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m.

Local entertainers Jesse Hart and Derek Wilson will be performing as well.

Single tickets for the Jimmy Flynn show are $30.

The weekend is a fundraiser for the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Society, whole Summer Street Industries will also benefit from a portion of the proceeds from the Jimmy Flynn show.

“We are also selling tables of eight for $200 – a savings of $40 – so grab some friends and come out to support these two great organizations,” co-organizer Mike MacNaughton said.

The 18th Annual MacDonald Cup Charity Golf Tournament will be held again this year at Glen Lovat Golf Club on Frasers Mountain, on July 15.

Flynn will also be participating in this year’s golf tournament, so “it should be an interesting day,” MacNaughton said.
Cost to enter the tournament is $100 per player, or $400 per four-person team. It includes 18 holes of golf, starting at 11 a.m., as well as power carts a steak supper and prizes.

“We are looking for eighteen teams,” MacNaughton added.

Tickets are on sale now. To reserve a table for the Jimmy Flynn show, or to secure a spot in this year’s golf tournament, contact MacNaughton at 396-1483 or Marlee King at 396-6394. Or, email: [email protected].

Tickets to the Jimmy Flynn show are also available at Summer Street Industries.
