In Game one of a tournament held this past weekend at the Kinsmen field in New Glasgow, the Blizzards defeated Hants North Jays 8-5.

Landon Steel was the winning pitcher, going five solid innings, while Cory MacGillivray and Cole Battist finished the pitching duties to seal the win for New Glasgow. Lane Lochead and Jax Graham each went 2-for-3 at the plate.

In their second game on Friday, the Blizzards defeated the Yarmouth Gateways 10-7.

Carter Dickson was the winning pitcher, going 5 1/3 innings and Keinon DeCoste and Graham completed pitching duties for New Glasgow.

Jeffery Quinn and Marshall Brown each had two hits, while DeCoste and Dickson both homered.

On Saturday morning, New Glasgow defeated Kentville 12-2 in six innings. Battist went the distance on the mound to pick up the win.

“(He) showed great command all game and did not come close to his maximum pitch count allowed,” said coach Mike Lochead.

Gage Connors had three hits in three at-bats while Blake MacLennan picked up a pair of hits. Later that day, the Blizzards defeated Springhill 9-0. Lochead and Graham combined for a two-hit shutout, striking out 17 batters.

DeCoste picked up three hits while Dickson chipped in with two, including a home run.

New Glasgow will now represent Nova Scotia at the Atlantic championships in Fredericton, N.B., Sept. 14 to 16.
