Peewee AA Crushers finish third in Mainland League, play exhibition games

WESTVILLE ROAD – The Peewee AA Crushers had a home and home series with the Cumberland Ramblers losing and tying the Ramblers to end the regular season in Mainland League play. The games were the final Mainland League games for the Crushers.

On Saturday at Amherst Stadium, the Crushers lost 6-4, coming back late in the game only to be given two penalties in the final two minutes to derail any comeback hopes.

Scoring for the Crushers were Colby Nichol with a pair and singles coming from Kayden Moulasion and Mac Wallace. Assists going to Zachary MacInnis and Landon Steele.

On Sunday at the Pictou County Wellness Centre (PCWC), the Crushers played an exciting hard-fought game but had to settle for a 2-2 tie with the Ramblers.

Nichol and Steele scored for the home squad with assists coming from John K. Martin, Cole Thompson, Levon Walst and Wallace.

The Crushers finished their Mainland League season with a record of 13-4-3, tallying for 29 points, which put them just two points out of first.

Exhibition Play Feb. 10 at the PCWC the Crushers beat Antigonish Bulldogs 5-2. Leading the Crushers offence was Mac Wallace with two goals, singles coming from Zach MacInnis, Wyatt Spence and Landon Steele. Assists off the sticks of Steele with three, and single helpers from Wallace, Levon Walst and Brennan Hood.

On Saturday the Crushers travelled to Newport Corner to face the West Hants Warriors losing 5-2. Spence scored both goals with assists coming from Gage Connors, Steele and Wallace.

On Monday night, the boys played the Truro Bearcats in another contest which saw the home team come out on top 6-1. Scoring for the Crushers was Spence with a pair, singles from John K. Martin, Walst, Colby Nichol and Steele. Assists coming from Clint MacLaughlin with two, Spence, Hood, Connor, and Kayden Moulasion.
