WESTVILLE ROAD – The Pictou County Peewee AA Crushers took one of two games from the Antigonish Bulldogs this past weekend.

On Saturday at the Pictou County Wellness Centre (PCWC), the Crushers faced a very hot Bulldog goalie in Alex MacNeil, who could only be beat with 17 seconds remaining in the game. The Crushers dominated the play but lost 3-1 as Antigonish clinched the win with an empty-netter. Scoring the Crushers lone goal was Landon Steele, with the assist going to Mac Wallace.

On Sunday in Antigonish, the Crushers refused to be swept and in a high-scoring affair beat the Bulldogs 8-5. Zach MacInnis and Steele had two goals apiece with singles coming from Wallace, Gage Connors, Levon Walst and Ben Marchand. Assists came off the sticks of Steele (3), Wallace (2), Walst (2), Marchand (2) and Blake MacLennan (2). Kayden Moulasion and Caden Campbell also had assists.

The Crushers remain in first place in the Mainland League and are back at it this coming weekend with a home-and-home series against the second-place Cumberland Ramblers. They travel to Amherst for a game Saturday and are home at the PCWC on Sunday at 2:15 p.m.
