STELLARTON – Johnny Miles Marathon Kids Races will take place for the first time at the Pioneer Coal Athletics Field in Stellarton next month.
In recent years, the Saturday races had been held in downtown New Glasgow.
Pat Carty, committee member and coach, and track summer employee Macayla Cullen agreed that it is wonderful to have children exposed to all this facility has to offer. They also see it as an opportunity for parents to explore and discover the location of the seven-year-old facility.
Brochures will be distributed to all participants at registration, describing the many track and field events, camps, and programs available throughout the summer.
Registration is free but donations to the facility would be greatly appreciated.
Registration will take place at the track on June 15, 5-7 p.m., and June 16, 8-9:30 a.m., with races starting at 10 a.m. sharp and finished by noon.
The first 500 kids registered will receive a medal, T shirt and a Subway sandwich. Canteen services will also be available at the track.
