TRENTON – Their balanced scoring attack on display again, the Pictou County Scotians knocked off the Cole Harbour Colts 8-3 on Sunday night.
In a game played at Trenton rink, Lucas Rushton had a goal and three assists for Pictou County, Morgan Timmons scored twice and set up another and David Culberson assisted three times for the Scotians, who built a 6-2 lead after two periods.
Ryan MacDonald fired a pair of goals, while singles went to Jacob Pentz and Gaetan Tremblay.
Jake Rector, Jeffrey Withers and Nicholas Buckborough scored for Cole Harbour, who are in place place in the Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League’s Roger Meek Division.
A scheduled game on Saturday in Glace Bay against the Miners was cancelled. The Scotians win on Sunday allowed them to keep pace with the Miners, who are in first place in the Sid Rowe Division. Glace Bay beat the Strait Pirates 6-3 on Friday and are six points up on the Scotians, with each team having nine games remaining (two of them against each other).
The Scotians have three games to play in less than a week: they are at the Brookfield Elks on Thursday, play the Miners on Saturday night in Cape Breton and host the Antigonish Bulldogs the next night.
