TRENTON – The Pictou County Scotians go into their playoff game Sunday night desperately seeking a W.

The defending league-champions went down 2-0 in their Nova Scotia Junior Hockey League playoff series against the Antigonish Bulldogs on Friday, after a 4-3 Bulldogs win at Antigonish Arena.

“Obviously, we wanted to grab some early momentum in the series but we knew going in it was gonna be a good battle,” forward Blair Dewtie said on Saturday.

“We all feel we’re still right in the series and we were only a bounce away from coming into Sunday tied 1-1.”

Brian MacDougall’s goal with 1:17 left in the game snapped a 3-3 tie on Friday, after the Scotians had rallied with three straight goals to draw even. Lucas Rushton, Blair Dewtie and Logan Vandemeeraker had the Pictou County goals.

Taylor Leger scored twice for Antigonish, and Giovanni Akeson had the other goal.

“Penalties have been a bit of an issue the first two games in the series but we’re back home Sunday, so hopefully home ice will play to our advantage and we can get back to playing our game,” Dewtie said.

Game 3 is at 7 p.m. in Trenton.
