HALIFAX – Two people with strong connections to Pictou County are up some major provincial awards when the Sport Nova Scotia hosts the 2018 Support4Sport Awards.
Blayre Turnbull, a native of Stellarton, is a winger with the national women’s hockey program, while Troy Ryan was an assistant coach with the silver-medal winning team at the Olympics this past February.
Turnbull is nominated in the Female/Teamathlete of the year category, while Ryan is a Coach of the Year nominee.
He was the head coach with the Junior A Crushers program for five seasons.
The Support4Sport Awards recognize the achievements of Nova Scotia’s greatest athletes, teams, coaches, officials, and volunteers in amateur sport over the past year.
