WESTVILLE ROAD – The Pictou County Weeks Major Midgets needed a shootout to beat the Cape Breton West Islanders 3-2 on Sunday.

At the Pictou County Wellness Centre, Mason Haley had both goals for Pictou County, Blake Kontuk and Carson Lanceleve drew assists at the Major Midgets broke a five-game losing streak and ended their regular season on a winning note.

On Saturday, Weeks suffered a 10-1 beating at the hands of the league-leading Halifax McDonalds, with Lanceleve getting his team’s only goal.

Pictou County will take on the second-place Steele Subaru Major Midgets in a first-round playoff series, with the first two games to be played in Dartmouth (this coming Saturday and Sunday).
