The Northern AAA Subway Selects continue to dominate the Nova Scotia Female Midget AAA Hockey League with two more victories over the Moncton Rockets on the weekend.

On Saturday the Selects had the "Sister Act" lead them in a 6-1 win over the Rockets. Eva and Sophia Wornell each had a pair of goals, while Kara and Ella MacLean also scored. Jenna Landry earned the win between the pipes.

On Sunday it was special teams leading the way for the Selects. Kara McLean, Ella MacLean and Maddie Quinn each scored power play markers to lead the Northern crew to a 3-1 victory. Lily Currie was strong in goal, stopping 28 of 29 shots fired her way, earning her player of the game honours.

The Selects maintained their hold on top spot in the seven-team league, with 32 points after going 17 straight games without a loss. They put their 15-0-2 record on the line against second-place Cape Breton next weekend, the first meeting of the season between the two teams.

The Northern Selects will celebrate nine years in the AAA Midget league with a special anniversary game on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at the Pictou County Wellness Centre.

The game will feature a number of special events, including a female novice game at the intermission, giveaways and other special promotions throughout the game.
