The New Glasgow Collection Point is owned by a third party service provider that is now open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The New Glasgow Collection Point is located at 543 Coalburn McLellans Brook Rd., which is close to the Trans Canada exit 26 and is already available as a shipping address option for customers.

Customers can shop online at www.IKEA.ca and choose to have their items shipped to the New Glasgow Collection Point for $59, which is a substantial savings over the cost of home delivery.

IKEA Food products are not for sale on www.IKEA.ca and cannot be shipped to a Collection Point.

IKEA says that fee represents a significant savings over the average home delivery fee of approximately $155 and the flat rates will remain the same regardless of the size or value of a customer’s purchase. Home delivery is still available for customers who would like to have goods delivered directly to their home.

The Dartmouth store’s grand opening on Wednesday will begin with the doors opening at 9 a.m. following celebrations.

More than $10,000 in prizes will be given away and everyone in line will have a chance to win. Every 15 minutes from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m., IKEA will draw for a chance to win a $1,000 gift card. Additionally, the first 300 people in line will receive a $50 gift card. The following 700 people will receive a coupon for $50 off a purchase of $150.

Grand opening celebrations will begin at 8:20 a.m. and will feature family entertainment and giveaways. Special guests include Halifax Region Mayor Mike Savage, as well as representatives from IKEA Canada.

IKEA Halifax will feature nearly 10,000 products, 50 inspirational room settings, three model home interiors, a SMALAND supervised children’s play area and a 475-seat restaurant serving the iconic Swedish meatballs and a wide variety of other dishes which include vegetarian and vegan options.

Room settings will reflect life at home in Atlantic Canada at affordable prices. The new store will also have family friendly features such as a baby care room, play areas throughout the store, preferred parking and a children’s IKEA department.
