ST. JOHN'S, N.L. — Unlike the rum-running days of yesteryear, a new brewing collaboration between Newfoundland and Saint-Pierre-Miquelon is completely on the up-and-up.
Port Rexton Brewing Company and the Brasserie Artisanale de l’Anse in Miquelon teamed up to brew a French pale ale that, "serves as a symbol of the spirit of collaboration and partnership between" the province and the French colony "while also underlining the importance of craft breweries to the tourism industry."
The beer was brewing in Port Rexton and will first be released at the brewery's retail shop in St. John's on Thursday, Nov. 7. It'll hit the taps at the brewery itself on Friday and an shipment is said to be on its way to the French islands.
The partnership was supported through a marketing sponsorship between Legendary Coasts Eastern DMO and La Collectivité Territoriale from Saint-Pierre.
A special event is being held in St. John's on Dec. 9 to celebrate the beer's release and the partnership.
