The rebuilt country store will be open for business out of its new location on Commercial Street in Berwick, close to the access ramps for Highway 101, of 9:30 a.m. May 12.

The popular Cider Press Café is also making a comeback, opening for the first time at 11 a.m. that same day.

Both the original Wheaton’s store, and its adjoining café, burned to the ground on Mother’s Day 2016.

“This location was chosen to improve accessibility, both in travelling to the store and moving around the store, as it is all on one level. The land where the original store stood will be returned to agricultural use,” a press release issued by Wheaton’s recently reads.

“This past year has been very challenging for us and our co-workers,” said owners Kay and Garnet Wheaton in the prepared statement.

“We so appreciate all the support we have received from friends and the community at large. On the days when we doubted whether we should try rebuilding, it was the unbelievable community support that encouraged us to press on. Now, one year after the devastating fire, we are excited to open the doors of our Berwick store and once again welcome our wonderful customers; our friends.”
