AT THE LIBRARY: Dining among the stacks

Looking for a way to chase away the winter blues? The library has a terrific idea to help you.
We are holding a fundraising dinner called Dining among the Stacks on Sunday, March 3, 6 to 8 p.m. The event includes fine dining, music, a silent auction and entertainment. Catering will be by Pantry Kitchen.
Tickets are $60 per person, of which $30 is a charitable donation eligible for a tax receipt, and can be purchased at any Library branch or at headquarters until Feb. 28. You can pay by e-transfer (jrozee@nsngp.library.ns.ca ), cash, at any branch, or credit card, at headquarters only.
There’s a great meal, lively entertainment, and the chance to support your local library, and receive a tax-deductible receipt, as well. Be sure to get your tickets early as seating is limited.
The library is also a great place for seniors and low-income families to have their taxes prepared and e-filed at no charge. It’s by appointment at regional library headquarters in New Glasgow. You may be eligible for help at a free tax clinic if you have a modest income and a simple tax situation. The documents are e-filed to Revenue Canada and a confirmation is received immediately.
Starting Feb. 28, a group of volunteers from the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP), sponsored by the Canada Revenue Agency, will be in the upstairs program room at library headquarters (located above the New Glasgow Library, second floor) every Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m., until April 25. To make an appointment, contact library headquarters at 902-755-6031, or toll-free 1-866-779-7761.
The Westville Library will also host a special session of the CVITP, Friday, March 29 from 1  to 4 p.m. With families and seniors trying to make their dollars stretch, this is a great service provided free of charge and sponsored by Canada Revenue Agency. Be sure to contact us early because the appointments fill up quickly.
