NEW GLASGOW, N.S.

Glen Haven Manor’s second graduating class of care assistants recently completed the long-term care facility’s customized personal care program.

Graduates Ashley Curtis, Laura Lee MacLennan, Heather Publicover, Kim Miller and Aimee Salter, all members of Glen Haven staff, completed comprehensive six-month training through modules on personal care, moving and transporting of residents, feeding sensitivity and much more to earn this special certification.

The Glen Haven program combines classroom studies with mentorship and on-site placement, working with continuing care assistants.

The instructor for the course is Glen Haven manor clinical tutor Bernie White, RN.

“We are very proud of our GCA graduates and the great dedication they demonstrated throughout the program,” says Glen Haven CEO Lisa M. Smith. “Glen Haven is committed to providing many and ongoing professional development opportunities for our staff. We are extremely pleased with the extra effort given by these graduates who balanced work, program studies and home responsibilities, as well as the depth of the program led by Mr. White.”

The third Glen Haven care assistants program is currently in progress.
