New Glasgow brings a 'cultural tour to people's backyard' for June 27 Multiculturalism Day

NEW GLASGOW, N.S. —

NEW GLASGOW, N.S. – Canadian Multiculturalism Day will be celebrated on June 27 in Pictou County with the return of food vendors and live entertainment at the New Glasgow Farmer’s Market.
“I know that last year went really well with a great turnout, and we’ve added a few different things this year to keep things new,” said New Glasgow Community Development Coordinator Kaitlyn Siddall.
“You’ll get to go on a cultural tour in your own backyard.”
The events will start at 11:30 a.m. and finish at 2 p.m. on June 27th, which this year falls on a Thursday.
Outdoor entertainment will be provided by Pictou Landing First Nations Dancers and Sandra DeCoste and Haley MacDonald will be performing Celtic and Irish music.
Inside the farmer’s market dome is where Siddall says everyone will have a chance to taste cuisine from Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, Mexico, Korea, Syria and India.
“Food was the biggest draw last year and so we have plans in place to make sure everyone gets an opportunity to taste all the different foods that will be there,” Siddall said.
