The YMCA of Pictou County is gearing up for the 2019 YMCA MEGAthon on May 4.
There are lots of activities to participate in – from LEGO challenges, to family Aqualympics, to Aqua Fit, to Pound, Cycle Fit and more.
This high-energy event will offer six hours of exercise for all ages. Participants decide their challenge by choosing to register for one class or six classes. Lunch is provided as well as a MEGAthon shirt. Participants will be asked to collect pledges to help out with the fundraiser. Prizes are available, including a pool party for the school with the most participants.
“This year we have included children and family activities too. It is a fun day to come into the YMCA, to be active together, and to support other families, kids and youth in our community.” said Heidi Sinclair, YMCA spokesperson.
“Every bit helps to ensure that everyone has access to programming that encourages a healthy, stronger and connected community.”
Each hour there will be a class in the gymnasium, in the pool area, and in the Cycle Fit studio. YMCA instructors will lead the group through lively sessions. Child care will be provided by YMCA staff at its on-site Child Care location.
Funds raised support the YMCA financial assistance program.
Each year, the YMCA provides more than $250,000 in day camp, after school, swimming lessons, membership assistance and more. This program ensures that kids, youth and families in our community have access to programs and services at the YMCA, regardless of their financial circumstance.
You can register now for the MEGAthon at the YMCA, located at the Pictou County wellness Centre.
