The deCoste Performing Arts Centre in Pictou is hosting its annual Christmas at the deCoste Craft and Food Fair Nov. 17-18.

The event runs Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. As well as a chance to get started on Christmas shopping and planning, it is a major fundraiser for the not-for-profit venue Money raised not only helps bring in major acts, but assists with major renovations required to maintain it as the premier facility in northeastern Nova Scotia.

“It won't be hard for individuals to find something that will become a cherished gift,” said marketing manager Jennifer MacLennan. “There will beautiful artwork, woodworking products, jewelry, quilts, soaps, crochet and knitted items, and more.”

There will be vendors providing a variety of food and beverages that can be purchased to use for holiday entertaining, including cheeses, chocolates, and more. Some vendors offer products that are great to use to help make your home look festive for the holidays as well.

The Murray Room at the front of the centre will serve as a café which will be operated again this year by the Northumberland Regional Boys basketball team, as a fundraiser for their upcoming season.

The venue will also have a booth set up to enable interested patrons an opportunity to purchase the ever popular deCoste Dream Vacation Draw ticket and/or membership or a deCoste Gift Card.

Entry is through the front main entrance near the box office. Admission is $5 which provides a ballot entry into a deCoste Christmas prize draw.

“This annual event not only benefits us, but many of the local businesses in the area as well,” said MacLennan. “There are several people who use the weekend to get together with friends to make a day out of it, starting at the deCoste and then work their way up the street checking out what some of the other businesses in the area have to offer.”
