The deCoste Performing Arts Centre is hosting Daniel Wnukowski on Wednesday, Nov. 13 at 7:30 p.m., as part of their Classical Series for the upcoming fall and winter season.
Hailed as “rapturous and glowing” by International Record Review and “an inspirational and devoted pianist” by the Financial Times (Life & Arts), Polish-Canadian pianist Wnukowski has performed throughout Europe, North America, South America and Asia in prestigious concert halls.
He has performed with many orchestras, throughout the world. including the Polish Radio Orchestra, Sinfonia Varsovia, Orchestra Filarmonica, Marchigiana, Poznan Philharmonic, and others. He was recently awarded a $23,000 grant from the Canada Council for the Arts to perform outreach concerts for remote, Indigenous communities in Canada, together with five other pianists and is also recipient of numerous scholarships and grants for promoting the works of exiled Jewish composers of the early 20th century.
He inaugurated 2017 in Warsaw, Poland as a special guest at the National Philharmonic Hall, performing Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue the direction of Jerzy Maksymiuk. On May 5, he performed at the Austrian Parliament in remembrance of Holocaust victims targeted by Nazi Germany.
Wnukowski was trained at the Lake Como International Piano Academy in Italy where he worked with many distinguished artists.
